
The Texas Comptroller’s Office is sending money to the local entities covering sales tax money collected in June. The allocations include purchases during June or from some businesses who pay quarterly to cover April, May and June sales.
Bridge City was the only one of the larger Orange County cities seeing a decrease in the year-to-date sales tax collections. The county as a whole is also down.
Bridge City, Orange, Pinehurst, Vidor and the Orange County Emergency Services District No. 3 collect a 1.5 percent sales tax. West Orange has a 1.25 percent sales tax. Orange County has a half percent sales tax.
The state payments to local entities in August are:
Bridge City: $136,747 for the month. $1,016,206 for the year to date, a decrease of 14.36 percent compared to the year-to-date payments last year.
Orange: $392,784 for the month. $2,704,821 for the year to date, an increase of 6.61 percent compared to the year-to-date payments last year.
Pinehurst: $55,704 for the month. $428,673 for the year to date, an increase of 2.48 percent compared to the year-to-date payments last year.
West Orange: $99,872 for the month. $783,133 for the year to date, an increase of 1.58 percent compared to the year-to-date payments last year.
Orange County: $400,135 for the month. $3,249,424 for the year to date, a decrease of 7.18 percent compared to the year-to-date payments last year.
Orange County Emergency Services District No. 3 (Little Cypress Fire and Rescue): $18,010 for the year. $261,418 for the year to date. The emergency services district receipts this year are affected by losing the sales taxes from the International Paper plant. The plant requested to be annexed into the city of Orange under an economic development agreement that the city will not collect sales taxes.
