The Little Cypress Junior High Golden Dazzler dance team recently attended American Dance and Drill Team camp at Moody Gardens in Galveston, Texas. The 2016-2017 school year will begin the 4th season for the Golden Dazzlers and will consist of all 7th graders. These young ladies brought home many awards from camp!
Individual awards:
Teal ribbons winners awarded for their special notice to attitude, enthusiasm, or extra effort-Teigin Armstrong, Kaylie McCray, Aleisia Sezer, Nacomi Washington.
Red ribbon winners nominated for All American that showed outstanding dance technique and quick learning skills-Teigin Armstrong, Hannah Gilliam, Kaylie McCray, Aleisia Sezer, Nacomi Washington.
Pink ribbon winners awarded for their exceptional achievement in dance-Teigin Armstrong (3 ribbons), Hannah Gilliam (1 ribbon), Kaylie McCray (1 ribbon), Aleisia Sezer (2 ribbons), Nacomi Washington (2 ribbons).
Junior All American Kick Company awarded for high kick technique-Teigin Armstrong.
Junior All American Dance Company awarded to exceptionally talented dancers and displaying outstanding technique-Teigin Armstrong.
Outstanding Performer awarded for dance technique, attitude, leadership, and overall excellence-Teigin Armstrong.
Teigin will be attending the Happy Feet Miss American High Kick state competition in Austin on February 18, 2017 as well as performing at the Buffalo Wild Wings Citrus Bowl All American Halftime Show in Orlando, Florida on December 31, 2016. Also, Teigin has been invited to perform at the Macy’s Thanksgiving Parade, San Antonio Spurs and Dallas Mavericks pre game show.
Team awards:
Most Admired Team of the Day-voted on by all schools attending camp.
Gussie Nell Davis Team of the Day and Team of the Week for improvement, unity, and hard work.
Ruby Sweepstakes winners judged on a Standard of Excellence for a Divisional rating. The team performed a pom pom dance to Yeah brought from home and choreographed by Alice Puckett Grimes-Owner/Director of Lorna Badon School of Fine Arts. Also, a novelty routine called “Disco Inferno” learned while at camp.
