The City Council in Bridge City has set a public hearing for July 19. City Manager Jerry Jones stated the hearing concerns a request from Clint Landry to change the zoning on Center Street behind the Market Basket because he wants to locate five duplexes there. Landry is asking for a zone change from Single Family Residential to Low Density Residential. Jones said the Planning and Zoning Commission requested the public hearing which requires 15 days notice to all residents within 200 feet of the affective area. The public hearing with the Planning and Commission will precede the City Council meeting on July 19.
The council approved a rate adjustment from CenterPoint Energy at its meeting Tuesday evening. City Manager Jones gave an update on the new Bridge City Police Station. He said the painting of the inside is completed, electrical work is still going in, and tile is being laid. The pouring of cement for the parking lot is expected to begin Wednesday. The new police station is going to be near the intersection of Rachal Avenue and Texas Avenue with access to Lake Street from the station’s parking lot.
