WOS Coach Shea Landry congratulates BC pitcher Tanner Doiron after his outing was cut short because of leg cramps.
After losing Game One 7-0 on Friday, the Bridge City Cardinals beat West Orange-Stark twice Saturday (6-3, 3-2) to advance to the fourth round of the playoffs where they will face Waco Robinson.
Down 1-0, the Cards scored 4 runs in the fourth on two hits and a Mustang error. The Mustangs added 2 in the fifth to cut the lead to one, but the Cards would respond with two insurance runs in the 6th and a three run victory.
Schuyler Thibodeaux was 3-4 and Kyle Bergeron got the complete game victory. Chad Dallas took the loss.
In Game Three BC jumped out to a quick 3-0 lead after two innings. Starting pitcher Tanner Doiron held WOS to just one hit thru three. In the fourth he started to cramp up and gave up a hit, walk and a hit batter, which set up the Mustangs first score on an RBI single by Kaleb Ramsey. Doiron was looked at several times and it looked as if he was coming out of the game but he stayed in and got thru the fifth but began to cramp up again in the sixth.
Doiron was replaced by Kevin Gordon and the Mustangs cut the lead to one with another RBI single by Ramsey.
It was 3-2 in the bottom of the seventh for WOS when KJ Miller connected on a one out double. Peyton Robertson grounded out to push Miller to third. Gordon then got Jack Dallas to ground out to end the game. Robertson took the loss on the mound.
BC’s opponent in the next round mirrored BC, having to win Games Two and Three against Hudson to advance.
