
Lady Cardinal Coach Kayla Gallardo is in her first season as head coach.
The Bridge City Lady Cardinals (29-2) play Caldwell in a best of three series in Livingston at Texas Slam Academy with Game One Friday night and Games Two and Three on Saturday.
BC met Caldwell in the second round last season and defeated the Hornets in two games straight before losing to the eventual State Champs from Huffman.
Caldwell comes in with an impressive record of 27-6 and only two losses in district, both to LaGrange. They won their other eight district games by a combined total of 67-4. Their top pitcher is Casey Kauder who is 20-4 with a 1.73 ERA. The Hornets made quick work of Wheatley 20-0 in the first round.
The Lady Cardinals beat Cleveland 8-0 in the bidistrict round and after an undefeated district campaign, they are riding a 16 game win streak.
They rely on Super Soph Kassidy Wilbur who is 20-1 with an ERA of 1.26 and also carries a .500 average with 12 homeruns. Senior Hannah Carpenter hits .440 with 9 HR’s and Baili Thibodeaux is batting .371
Coach Gallardo says her ladies are playing well as a team and just as important have been healthy. The winner will face the winner between Liberty and Giddings.
