The Mauriceville Middle School Track Team placed several students in the recent District track meet. One the eighth grade team Colton McIlwain earned First in the 800 meter and in the 1200 meter run. He took Second in the triple and the long jumps. Tyler Rhodes was Third in the 1200 meter run and Mason Napier earned Third in the 200 hurdles.
The 7th grade team won the district title. Seventh graders were Shane Foux, First in the 100 meter dash, Zach Krummel, First in the 200 meter hurdles, Ethan Duhon First in the 200 meter dash, Shane Foux got Second in the long jump, Cainen Doyle was Second in triple jump, Ethan Duhon earned Third in the triple jump and in long jump and Cainen Doyle was Third in the 200 hurdles. The team of Shane Foux, Ethan Duhon, Cainen Doyle and Zach Krummel got Second in both the 400 meter relay 800 meter relay.
Individual results from the recent district junior high meet included two First Place medals for Little Cypress Junior High seventh grader Kollyn Brown. Brown’s 87’ discus throw and his best shot put of 34’ 10” earned him two golds. Other athletes who placed include seventh graders Aiden Lofton – Fourth and Cameron Smith – Sixth in the 2400 meter run; Ken’teon Champine – Fourth in the 100 meter dash; Aiden Lofton – Sixth in the 1200 meter run; and the team of Champine, Pigg, Mahoney and Pollock – Fifth in the 1600 meter relay.
Eighth graders who placed were Ethan McCullum – Third in high jump and Third in long jump: Ethan White – Third Place in Pole Vault; the team of Landon Bearden, Max Greer, Aaron Jones and Ethan McCullum – Second Place in the 400 meter relay; Ethan McCullum – Third in the 100 meter dash; Max Greer – Second in the 200 Meter dash; and the team of Landon Bearden, Aaron Jones, Ethan White and Ethan McCullum – Sixth in the 1600 meter relay.
The Little Cypress Junior High 7th and 8th grade girls competed in their District track meet last night in Bridge City. 7th Grade girls placed 7th. Makenzie Holland was district champ in the 800m run with a time of 2:47.5. Aidan Watson placed 6th in the 2400m run with a time of 11:24.4 and 5th in the 1200m run with a time of 4:49.1.
The 8th grade girls placed 3rd overall with a total of 115 points. Melanie Cupp placed 1st in the Triple Jump with a jump of 31’6″, while Chelsea Perry placed 2nd with her jump of 31’3′. Melanie Cupp also placed 1st in the Long Jump with a jump of 14’8.75″. Melanie Cupp was also the district champ in the 200m run with a time of 27.95 and Dilynn Robinson took 2nd with a run of 28.84. Wanita Smith took 1st place in the 100m run with her time of 12.90!
Kiera Figgins placed 4th in the 1200m run with a time of 4:52.7 and Jaden Wilson placed 6th with her time of 5:12.8. Kiera Figgins also placed 4th in the 2400m run with a time of 10:52.3 while Jaden Wilson took 5th with a time of 11:25.8. Avery Holland placed 4th in the 800m run with a time of 2:59.2.
The relays performed very well. The 400m relay took 2nd place with a time of 55.60. The team included Zaria Johnson, Dilynn Robinson, Miyanna Harper-Kelly and Wanita Smith. The 800m relay also took 2nd place with a time of 1:58.0. This team included Chelsea Perry, Dilynn Robinson, Melanie Cupp and Wanita Smith. The 1600m relay placed 3rd with a time of 4:48.3. The team included Amber Lester, Melanie Cupp, Avery Holland and Chelsea Perry.
The Orangefield Junior High Boys Track Teams participated in the 24-4A District Track Meet. The 7th Grade Bobcats finished in 6th place with 71 points.
