
A Deweyville woman staying at a house in Orange with her children had her purse stolen sometime Monday night.
Orange police report the purse held cash, a man’s wedding band, a woman’s wedding band, a James Avery ring, plus FEMA paperwork plus the Social Security cards for the woman and her two children.
The man’s ring is described as white gold with a cross design. The woman’s ring is also white gold and has tiny diamonds. The James Avery ring had a belt buckle design.
Police were called to the residence on 37th Street at 6 a.m. Tuesday. The woman said she had been preparing to move and fell asleep on the couch. She woke about 4 a.m. and noticed the purse was missing from the kitchen counter.
Detective Captain Robert Enmon said investigators talked to a suspect who had been at the house but cleared the person. Anyone with information about the purse or stolen items should contact the Orange Police Department at 409-883-1026.
Orange narcotics officers arrested a 51-year-old for possession of cocaine after a traffic stop Tuesday afternoon. Police report the traffic stop was at 10th Street and Cordrey Avenue at 1:24 p.m. Roderick Richard was arrested for possession of a controlled substance in connection with crack cocaine, a felony.
