Texas relief pitcher Chase Shugart (BC) pitched five innings against Oklahoma this weekend giving up no runs on no hits. He has appeared in 17 games this season, pitching 25 innings with a 3.60 ERA. Teams are hitting .202 against the true freshman.
Raven Cole pitched a two-hit shutout and the No. 4 University of North Alabama softball team defeated No. 11 UAH 4-0 on Sunday to win the three-game Gulf South Conference series. With the win, the Lions improve to 37-5 overall and maintain first place in the GSC with a 21-3 league record. Cole, a junior from LCM, went the distance in the circle, working seven innings to improve to 19-1 on the season. She struck out seven and walked four, taking a one-hitter into the bottom of the seventh inning.
Catcher Hunter Uzzle (BC) went 4-6 with 5 RBI’s as Eastern Okla State swept Murray State in a double header on the road.
Junior catcher Matt Menard (BC) went 3 for 10 this weekend for Baylor. On the season he’s hitting .327 with a .462 slugging percentage.
Ole Miss OF Cameron Dishon went 1-5 with an RBI in two games this weekend for the Rebels. The senior is hitting .227 with 4 HR’s this season.
Wendy Gillet and Kylie Bradley are both in their first year at Centenary College. Gillet went 5-13 in a four game set while Bradley was 1-9 in 3 games. On the season Gillet is hitting .428 with 28 RBI’s and 2 HR’s. Bradley is hitting .270 with 12 RBI’s and one HR.
For the Lamar Cardinals, Sarah Ragsdale (WOS) was 2-9 with a stolen base in a three game set with Northwestern St. Playing in 33 of 34 games this season for the Lady Cards, Ragsdale is hitting .263 with 9 stolen bases. Baylie Comeaux (LCM) has seen action in 19 games and is hitting .231.
Danyelle Hodges (LCM) playing for Jarvis Christian in Hawkins, Tx has started in 25 of 33 games, hitting .266 with 4RBI’s and 5 for 7 in stolen bases.
Gabrielle Kespelher from Faulkner State Community College has been named the ACCC Softball Pitcher of the Week for March 21-27. An Orangefield grad, Kespelher helped lead Faulkner State to a 4-0 week, going 2-0 on her own, with a 0.54 ERA. She threw two complete games in wins over Bishop State and Wallace-Dothan. In the two games, she allowed seven hits, while striking out 22 and walking nine. For the year, Kespelher is 20-6 with a 2.93 ERA and has struck out 176 batters in 162 innings.
Tryce Howard (OF) is hitting .383 in 13 games with Black Hawk-Moline. He has 17 RBI’s and 19 runs and a team high slugging percentage of .619
