Orange police have started an investigation of a possible sexual assault after a resident in the Brownwood area found a “disturbing photograph” left in a backyard after flood waters went down.
The resident of the 2300 block of North Fifth Street called police about 12:30 p.m. Thursday. Officer J.E. Roy reported the resident gave him the photograph. Monday, Detective Captain Robert Enmon said the photograph was of a sex act between an adult and a juvenile; so police are investigating.
A man who police said had marijuana in his car led Orange patrol officers on a 70 mph hour chase on 16th Street Saturday night. Officers caught him after he left the car in the Northway Shopping Center parking lot and attempted to run away.
Officer S.J. Mulhollan reported he was monitoring traffic at the four-way stop sign at Seventh Street and Park Avenue about 9 p.m. Saturday. He saw a Buick Roadmaster run through the stop sign.
When the officer turned on his flashing red lights to stop the car, it turned north on 12th Street. Officer Mulhollan turned on his siren and the Buick still would not stop. The officer saw the driver drop a small plastic bag.
The Buick then went onto John Avenue and through an alley to the parking lot of E-Z Pawn on 16th Street and then went onto 16th Street. Police said the Buick led a chase of up to 70 mph northward on 16th Street. The car pulled into the shopping center parking lot and the driver started to run off.
Jeffrey Lee Johns Jones was arrested for possession of marijuana and evading arrest. Officer Mulhollan reported he found a baggy of marijuana in the console of the car and a “blunt” on the floor. Police also picked up three small baggies of weed on the street where the driver had dropped them.
