Wednesday afternoon a pilot truck and tractor trailer rig carrying this brand new 160 ton crane on a flatbed trailer from Houston to Florida decided to stop at the Pilot Truck Stop on Hwy. 62 to readjust the crane on the trailer. After taking the crane off, the boom began to swing, causing the crane to lean and blow a tire. The pilot truck was next to the crane and it crushed the top of the truck and shattered the windows. No one was inside and no one was injured.
Gilbeaux’s Wrecker Service had its fleet of trucks on hand but had to wait for wooden pallets and another crane from TNT to upright the large crane right at dark.
