Someone Tuesday evening walked into a woman’s living room and stole her purse as she was cooking supper. The burglary on Edgemont Drive was one of several investigated during the past two days by the Orange Police Department.
Officer Dylan Mulhollan reported the burglary was in the 3700 block of Edgemont Drive about 7 p.m. Tuesday. The woman said she was in the kitchen and heard the front door open. When she went into the living room, she noticed her purse and its contents were missing.
On Monday night at 11:37 p.m., the resident of a house in the 500 block of Crepe Myrtle Drive returned home after eight hours away to discover the front door was partially open. Someone had forced open the back patio door and rummaged through the house. Officer Justin Kirkpatrick reported several rooms were “in complete disarray.”
About $3,400 worth of items were stolen including a .40 caliber pistol, three TVs, a Playstation 4, Sony stereo system and a hover board.
Officers recovered a stolen Red Ryder BB gun that had been stolen Tuesday night from a house in the 2300 block of Monterrey Drive. The crook also took a Pumpmaster BB gun and a 52-inch TV. The resident called police at 7:20 p.m. Tuesday and told police they were gone from the house about an hour. Officer Dylan Mulhollan said a back bedroom window had been broken. He found the two BB guns on the other side of a chain link fence in a neighbor’s yard. The neighbor allowed police to search the yard, but the TV was not found.
Two teenage boys will face misdemeanor criminal trespassing charges after being found in the Akrotex warehouse, 1325 W. Front Street. Officer Tim Pruitt reported three juveniles were originally in the building but one ran away before police arrived. A 14-year-old boy and a 13-year-old boy told the officer they got inside by pulling up a metal panel on the building. Officer Pruitt reported the warehouse has a number of trespassers lately and the manager wanted to press charges. Police drove the two youth to their homes.
Police arrested a man and a woman for drug possession Monday night in Roselawn after an undercover operation at a house in the 500 block of Crepe Myrtle. Detective Sergeant Jason Laughlin reported he found methamphetamine on the man along with a pink baggie of methamphetamine and a large orange bag filled with needles. Police also confiscated assorted drug paraphernalia.
32-year-old Colt Allston Rash faces charges of possession of a controlled substance and delivery of a controlled substance.
39-year-old Misty Dawn Ford was arrested for possession of a controlled substance.
