A woman returning to her parked car on 16th Street Friday night after the Christmas parade discovered a man sitting inside the car. Two Orange police detectives soon arrested the man.
Patrol Officer M.T. Roush reported the woman had left her car parked at the Family Eye Clinic lot in the 2400 block of 16th Street while she went with family to the parade in downtown Orange.
When she returned to the car about 8 p.m., she noticed the brake lights on and a man sitting in the driver’s seat. Detective Sergeants Jason Laughlin and J.C. Steele were the first to arrive and arrested the man inside. 39-year-old Jacque Demond Robinson was arrested for burglary of a vehicle. The owner of the car said someone had opened the console and rummaged through it, but nothing was missing.
Officer Roush said Robinson appeared intoxicated. He would not tell the staff at the Orange County Jail what substances he had taken. Orange police then took him to the emergency room to get medical clearance before being taken back for booking into the jail.
Friday night ended up a drag for a man who got into a fight at a Simmons Drive bar. He ended up in the Orange County Jail and got a small hole in his faux leather cowboy jacket, apparently from the Taser pricks that police needed to subdue him. 34-year-old Lastie Joe Brown was arrested for misdemeanor disorderly conduct at King’s Tavern.
Orange Patrol Officer J.L. Goins reported she was called to the bar at 807 Simmons Drive about 11 Friday night. When she drove up in the parking lot, she could hear bottles breaking and large objects being thrown inside. Officer Goins opened the door and a hard object flew in her direction. She had her Taser stun gun out and ordered two men on the floor to stop fighting.
One of the men got up and moved away. She reported the other man got up and went to hit the man who had moved away. The aggressor did not follow orders to stop and the officer reported she used the stun gun.
She said the other man was the bouncer at the club and had tried to get Brown outside when he got behind the bar. Brown was accusing the bar owner of owing him money, according to Officer Goins.
The Taser cartridge was saved as part of the police package and Officer Goins noted that she saw a hole in Brown’s “faux leather cowboys (sic) jacket” that could have come from the stun gun.
Detective Sergeant Stephen Ward stopped a bicyclist Saturday night for possible intoxicated driving and found PCP, crack cocaine and Xanax.
Sergeant Ward reported he saw a bike rider at 9:46 p.m. at 16th Street and Link Avenue. The bicyclist was swaying and “having a hard time controlling his bike,” the sergeant reported. In addition, the bike did not have a headlight, as required by law.
Sergeant Ward said he could smell PCP on the man. The man told the detective he had “handle bars,” slang for the prescription anti-anxiety drug Xanax. Besides the Xanax, the sergeant reported he found crack cocaine and a small mouthwash bottle filled with liquid PCP. Allen Lee Sadler was arrested on three counts of possession of a controlled substance and taken to the Orange County Jail.
A Christmas yard decoration was stolen Saturday night in the Charlemont subdivision. A resident living in the 2100 block of Monterrey Street called Orange police at 8:20 a.m. Sunday to report that his Christmas light projector worth about $100 had been taken. The light had been outside at 10 the night before.
