Rain has slowed down progress on construction of the new police station in Bridge City. With the weather clearing now City Manager Jerry Jones believes significant work can begin on the construction. Jones indicated that the wet weather had prevented a road being made to allow trucks to bring material and other construction items to the site at the end of Rachal. Rain has also postponed work on several other city projects, Jones added that with better weather those will start moving forward pretty quickly, too.
The City Council approved Tuesday night cancelling the next scheduled meeting of the council in December. Jones explained that there were limited items for the council to consider at this time of the year, and of course there is the Christmas Holiday less than four weeks away.
Mayor Kirk Roccaforte reflected on the year 2015 for Bridge City. Roccaforte exclaimed it was a good year for the city, and he was especially proud of the new splash pad that was added to the city park off of West Roundbunch Road. Other city improvements are underway with one of the biggest being the new police station according to Roccaforte.
