The Bridge City Lady Cardinal Basketball Team played in the Nederland Tourn. Freshman went 2-0 on the day to improve to 4-0 on the year.
The BC Varsity lost both games. Losing to Dayton 53-33 and losing to Nederland 43-38 in a tight battle. Ashley Beam had 15 points and Kassidy Wilbur scored 12. BC is 1-3 on the year.
Also from the Ned Tournament, Orangefield lost to Evadale 30-28 and they lost to Vidor 31-30. WOS lost to Buna 50-28.
Orangefield Junior High took on the Cubs of Little Cypress on Thursday night and came away 2 and 2. The 7th Grade B team had a much better showing than last week, but still fell to Little Cypress, 16-11. They were led in scoring by Jordan Ritter who had 5 points and Kamryn Revere who pitched in 4.
The 7th Grade A team got their first win of the year by defeating the Cubs 18-16 in a very tight contest. Kaden Frazier punched in 5 points in the first quarter to help get the Cats of to a quick start and Tyler Washington scored three in the 4th to put the game away for Orangefield. Frazier and Washington finished with 7 and 5 points on the night.
The 8th Grade B team turned right around and got the Bobcats a second win on the night by knocking off the Little Cypress 8-6 in a defensive struggle. After giving up 6 quick first quarter points the defense shut down the Cubs for the rest of the game. Jag Gray, Jacob Harvey, Logan Duffey, and Brendon Roberts all scored to lead the Bobcats to a come from behind victory.
The 8th Grade A team could not hold the momentum gained by the previous two wins. Orangefield saw solid play in the post from Kayson DuBois who led all scorers with 4 points and Colby Gonzales who worked hard in the paint to create open shots for his teammates, but when the final buzzer sounded the Cats trailed Little Cypress 19-9. Contributing to the loss were the Bobcats struggles shooting the ball on the night. Aside from a low field goal percentage, the team hard a very rough time from the charity stripe shooting an abysmal 7.6% (1-13). Orangefield gets the holiday break to regroup and will play their next game after Thanksgiving when they travel to take on the Silsbee Tigers.
