Thursday night, the Orangefield Bobcat Combo Team took on the Hamshire-Fannett Shorthorns in the first game of a tripleheader. Offensively, the team was led on the ground by the rushing attack of Dylan Wells and Kaden Frazier. They were both able to get outside on the Shorthorn defense and had some great runs. On defense, CB, Cade Griffin had a big game, making some significant tackles and Ashton Webb and Jacob Peschel played strong along the defensive line. While they made a few tackles for a loss, Hamshire-Fannett proved to be a little too much for the Orangefield to handle as they lost 22-0 and fell to 2-1 to finish their season.
The 7th Grade Team traveled to Hamshire-Fannett to take on the Shorthorns. This game, like their matchup in week 4, was close all night. The Bobcats were able to move the ball on the Horns but struggled to finish drives. The Defense held tight for most of the night, but yielded a couple of big plays on the outside that resulted in touchdowns. Gunner Jones played well on both sides of the ball, playing on every snap of the game. He also had a good showing in his role as the punter by making the Shorthorns work with a long field after a couple of kicks. Tyler Washington once again led the Bobcats on offense and also made some nice tackles when he walked across the line of scrimmage to play safety. Return man, Jordan Ritter also continued to show off his wheels with his best display coming on a 25 yard kick return. The Cats gave it their all, but failed to score a touchdown and lost 14-0 moving putting their final tally at 0-9 for the season.
The 8th Grade Bobcats also faced the Shorthorns and looked to be off to a rough start when Hamshire-Fannett returned an interception down deep into the red zone, but the Bobcat Defense bowed up and held the Horns on three straight plays before a Clayson Choate interception returned the ball to the Orangefield Offense. The Cats struggled to move the ball with any consistency on offense. Their lone score came on a long kickoff return by Choate, his third on the year. The defense also had a hard time stopping the Shorthorns as they did a good job keeping the Bobcats off balance by attacking them through the air in addition to their good ground game. The final score of the contest was 30-6 dropping the Cats to 3-4-1 on the year.
