The loss last week has put the Little Cypress-Mauriceville Bears in a must win situation for the last two games of the season to have any chance at making the playoffs. First up are the Jasper Bulldogs who are on a roll since getting quarterback Tiger Williams back from injury.
LC-M Coach Randy Crouch admits Williams will be tough for the Bears to control this Friday night. Crouch recognizes the Jasper quarterback as the key to the Bulldogs offense which includes several other dangerous weapons including tight end Cody Mitchell and running back Kellian Weathered. They are very explosive, and LC-M will have to play well the coach says not to give up too many big plays against the Jasper offense.
As good as the Bulldogs are on offense; Coach Crouch believes they may be better on defense. Crouch points out Jasper currently has the top defense in the district statistically. The Bulldogs have a number of outstanding athletes playing defense led by John McMillion at tackle and Jakeithon Adams at free safety. Coach Crouch feels the Bears are playing well on offense and should be able to maintain their good play against Jasper. The coach’s biggest concern for the Bears is they’ve got to play better defensively.
Jasper comes to town with a share of the district lead. The Bears need to win their final two games to maintain their hopes for the postseason. Crouch believes the playoffs start now for LC-M. Crouch is promoting a playoff attitude for his Bears to get ready for the Bulldogs. He insists LC-M must play better offensively, tackle better on defense, and the kicking game must be boosted up as well. Basically, Crouch concludes the Bears are being prepared to play well against Jasper in every phase of the game. -Dan Perrine, KOGT-
