A pivotal district game will be played this Friday night at Pirate Stadium in Deweyville. Coach Lance Dale says the Garrison Bulldogs run a multiple offense that his Pirates must slow down. Dale indicates the Bulldogs like to use a Double Slot Offense with one back out of which they run counters, wing back traps, tosses, and they will throw the football. Terrance Dove wears number 5 for Garrison at running back and is fast. Number 25 for the Bulldogs is Rusty Secrest who is good at his wide receiver position. Dale promises the Pirates will get after them Friday night.
Deweyville’s offensive strategy against the Bulldogs’ defense according to Coach Dale is to use different formations in an effort to get Garrison out of position. Dale observes that the Bulldogs have a multiple numbers type defense lining up in several different ways. The coach thinks motion and unbalanced lines will get Garrison misaligned and the Pirates will take advantage of it.
Dale is hoping his Pirates will be ready for the Garrison Bulldogs when they come to town Friday night. Dale states the keys for Deweyville are the Pirates’ secondary cannot give up any long pass plays, the offensive linemen must block their assignments whatever alignment the Bulldogs use, and like every week the Pirates must tackle well. Coach Dale believes the Pirates will be in this game and a win against the Bulldogs will give Deweyville a shot at the playoffs. He emphasizes they are still taking it one game at a time and they’re thinking about Garrison this week.
Friday night the Deweyville Pirates play the Garrison Bulldogs in Deweyville with the winner helping their chances to make it into the post season.
