A 23-year-old Louisiana man died in a one-car crash Wednesday afternoon off Interstate 10 at the Simmons Drive exit. He crashed the car into a metal beam from an old highway sign off the access road about 1 p.m.
The Texas Department of Public Safety identified the man as Jordan Pinchon from Carencro, Louisiana. Trooper Stephanie Davis said he was traveling eastbound on Interstate 10. He took the Simmons Drive exit at a high rate of speed and lost control of the 2007 Chevrolet sedan.
The car went down the exit ramp in a side skid, jumped over a curb and hit the sign beam. Trooper Davis said Pinchon was wearing a seatbelt. Precinct 2 Justice of the Peace Derry Dunn pronounced the man dead at the scene.
