The Bridge City Cardinals bounced back from their first loss of the season with their most impressive game of the year a solid win over the Liberty Panthers last Friday. District games start this week for the Cardinals, and Coach Dwayne DuBois thinks the Cleveland Indians will be ready for the contest with Bridge City on Friday. DuBois says Cleveland runs out of a Spread and the key player is the quarterback, but they also have an explosive tailback and a tall rangy receiver. This being the first game of district the coach predicts the Indians will be better and he anticipates a good ball game out of them.
The Indians have some strong linebackers, an anchor in the defensive line, and at least one good looking athlete in the secondary. Coach DuBois analyzes the Cleveland defense and the challenge for the Cardinals’ offense. DuBois states controlling the line of scrimmage against the Indians 50 Defense which is getting better each week will be important for Bridge City to come out on top in the district opener.
A win to start district action would be big for Bridge City. DuBois points at three keys that are necessary for the Cardinals to earn the first district win of the season. Coach DuBois believes controlling the tempo and winning the turnover battle are always important, but in this game for Bridge City to win the ball game as a whole the defense must play well and be aggressive as it was last week against Liberty, the offensive line has to play good and continue to get better, and control the tempo for the Cardinals to have a good chance to win. DuBois is confident those three things will happen.
