The driver of this pickup truck and the occupants are considered lucky after it caught fire following an accident. First responders got the call around 3:30pm Saturday on FM 1130 near Amrock Rd. in Mauriceville. They arrived to find the truck fully engulfed and a man sitting on the ground nearby. Assaulting a Pregnant Woman
A Jefferson County Grand Jury indicted an Orange County man for assaulting a pregnant woman. Beaumont Police responded to a disturbance at 1am on August 31. Davis Scott, 26, of Vidor, was detained after trying to flee from police. Officers then made contact with the 21 yr. old pregnant female who stated a verbal argument turned physical with Scott. According to the affidavit she told police that he began to assault her and choke her, impeding her breathing. Police noted she had visible injuries. Griffith Gets Call For The Hall
Former LCM baseball coach Steve Griffith will be joining an elite group of coaches. In January, Coach Griff will be inducted into the Texas High School Baseball Coaches Hall of Fame. Griffith had a record of 609-256 in 26 seasons with the Bears, making the playoffs 20 seasons with a playoff record of 68-40. In 18 of those 20 playoff trips the Bears advanced to the second round.
