The Bridge City Board of Adjustment met Thursday night. The first order of business was swearing in new alternate members on the board. Beverly Perry and Michael Gauthier received their oaths of office. Another recently appointed alternate Patsy Dowden was not able to attend the meeting.
The Board approved a request for a zoning variance. Ben Prosperie wants to build a carport on the front of his home which would be in violation of the city’s ordinance for a front yard setback of 25-feet. The carport would be only 20 feet setback from the street.
With approval from the board to proceed with building the carport, Prosperie described the need for it to have a place to store his vehicles under out of the sun since his garage is not big enough for them. “It should turn out nice what we’re hoping to do with it, so we’re happy,” Prosperie exclaimed. The new carport will be one of close to a dozen homes on Prosperie’s street with that addition to them.
