
The 22-4A District Varsity tennis tournament was held at the Beaumont Tennis Center on April 12-13.
Orangefield captured the district title for the Boys and Lumberton for the Girls.
Orangefield’s Braden Frye took home 2nd place in the Boys Singles in playback with Bridge City’s Albert Mungia (3rd).

Silsbee’s Adam Saenz took home the 1st place medal in Boys Singles defeating Orangefield’s Braden Frye 6-4; 6-2 in the finals. This forced a playback situation for Frye where he defeated Albert Mungia 6-2: 6-4 to take home 2nd place.
Bridge City’s Boys Doubles team of Jackson Guidry and Will Ramirez upset the #1 seeded LCM Aaron Miller and Dax Rogers in the semis to advance to the championship. They defeated OF’s Kaden Frazier & Aaron Miller in the finals to capture 1st place. Orangefield was forced into a playback situation with LCM Miller & Rodgers. OF came came away with the win in 3 sets to take 2nd over LCM. LCM’s other boys doubles team of Logan Gaddis and Jacob Miller took home 4th place. BC and OF advance to Regionals.
Silsbee’s Ashton Martinez took home the gold in the Girls Singles defeating Orangefield’s Summer Hackbarth in the championship 6-0; 6-3. Hackbarth played Lumberton’s Cady Chance in the playback with Lumberton coming out on top 6-2; 3-6; 6-4. Young Summer Hackbarth, who is just a Sophomore, captured 3rd place with LCM’s Tracy Qi taking 4th.
Girls’ Doubles:
Leanne Long and Kara Rumsey from Lumberton captured the gold with Silsbee’s Michaela Greer and Emma Scott with silver. Lumberton’s Lana Leggett and Brooke Underdown with the bronze. LCM’s Aaliyah LeCompete and Ella Roy took home 4th place.

In Mixed Doubles, Bridge City’s Waverly Cooper and Kian Perry advanced to the finals to defeat LCM’s Lizzy DelaFuente and Dakota Perry 4-6; 6-1; 6-2. Orangefield’s mixed doubles team of Alayna Dodd and Connor Griffen captured 3rd place over LCM’s Kaitlyn Ewing and Evan Barborek to take 3rd and 4th respectively.
1st and 2nd place winners will represent District 4A in the Regional tournament in Bryan-College Station on April 26-27.
