Accident Sends Orange Man To Hospital
A 24-year-old man from Orange was seriously injured Monday afternoon in a crash involving a sedan and an 18-wheel truck rig. The collision was about 4:45 p.m. on Interstate 10 east near Simmons Drive. Texas Department of Public Safety Sergeant Stephanie Davis said Ted Stone was taken by ambulance to St. Elizabeth Hospital in Beaumont. She said Stone was driving a Chevrolet Impala on the eastbound access road of the interstate. He lost control for an unknown reason and the car traveled across the grass median onto the interstate. Orange Woman Dies From Injuries
A woman from Orange died Monday night after a two vehicle collision in Beaumont. Beaumont police report 44-year-old Samantha Swanson was seriously injured and later died at a Beaumont hospital. The crash was about 8:30 p.m. at South MLK Drive and Florida Avenue. Police said Swanson was a passenger in a Ford Sport Trac truck northbound on South MLK Drive. The truck failed to yield the right of way at an unprotected green light. BCISD Adopts Budget
The Bridge City School Board adopted the tax rate and budget for the 2018-2019 school year during its meeting Monday evening. The trustees approved making no change to the tax rate of $1.17 per $100 value. Superintendent Todd Lintzen said the budget is tight, but also balanced for the school district. The district is growing with more students. He characterized it as a fairly aggressive budget regarding the students and the instructional material. Weeks of workouts and two scrimmages have been done to get ready for this Friday night which is the start of the football season.
