When you take a look at this year's starting offensive line for Louisiana Tech, one word takes center stage: experience. Veteran presence up and down the line is something head coach Skip Holtz and the Bulldogs have longed for the past few seasons, and it's finally here. City Selling Old Fire Station
The City of Orange is preparing to sell the old fire station on MacArthur Drive next to Lions City Park. The city's Planning and Zoning Commission will meet Tuesday at 5:30 p.m. to vote to declare the property as city surplus. In a memo, City Planning Director Kelvin Knauf said city rules require the commission and the city council to declare property as surplus before the city can sell or trade real estate. Shugart Shines In First Start
Chase Shugart was moved up to the Lowell Spinners this week, the Red Sox Class A Short Season team out of Lowell, Mass. Shugart started Thursday and dazzled in his Spinners debut after throwing three perfect innings. The 12th-round pick out of Texas also struck out three batters. Man Identified Breaking Into Vehicles
Orange Police Detective Captain Robert Enmon thanked KOGT.com readers Thursday for helping police catch thieves. He said man has been questioned and then admitted to breaking into vehicles in the Oak Creek Village subdivision this week. Enmon said he will release the name after charges have been filed. Arrest Could Lead To More Charges
Bridge City Police have located two people believed to be involved in a theft, stealing items out of a vehicle parked at WalMart in Bridge City. Following a surveillance photo shown on KOGT.com, the female was identified as 27 year old Lainey Zenos. Zenos was with 25 year old Zachary Anthony when they entered a mans vehicle on August 24th, stealing several items including cash and a cell phone. The couple was stopped Thursday on a traffic violation on Simmons Drive in Orange. Anthony was found to have several outstanding warrants and was arrested. Not a great forecast for Labor Day Weekend. The National Weather Service says a wet and stormy pattern is expected into this weekend and next week. Expect to see showers and thunderstorms develop near the coast in the morning, and move inland throughout the day. In the tropics, a tropical wave in the Caribbean is expected to be in the eastern Gulf of Mexico by early next week. NHC gives this system a low (10%) chance for tropical development. Robert “Bob” William Greenfield, Sr., 55, of Orange, Texas, passed away on August 29, 2018, in Orange. Born in Wilmington, Delaware, on July 4, 1963, he was the son of James Greenfield, Sr. and Louise Pearson. Bob honorably served his country in the United States Army. He later worked as a truck driver for Teamsters Union. Bob was also a member of the Mavericks MC, Orange County, where he was affectionately known as “Hobo.” He loved to travel with his family and ride motorcycles. Arrest Made On Shooting July 4
Vidor police have arrested a 19-year-old on a murder indictment in connection with the July Fourth shooting death of a Vidor man. An Orange County grand jury Wednesday indicted Keenan LeDoux of Vidor for murder and he is now in the county jail on a $100,000 bond. Vidor Police Chief Rod Carroll said 46-year-old Gregory Paul Goldsmith was shot to death about 8:17 p.m. July Fourth at a house in the 100 block of Carla Street. At the time, Carroll said the shooting appeared to stem from a family dispute and the shooter was cooperating. The Orange County Sheriff's Office Wednesday helped the U.S. Border Patrol stop a Greyhound bus in Rose City to arrest a suspect in a New Jersey murder.
