A call about a possible intoxicated customer in Walgreen's Thursday evening led Orange police to find a stolen pickup truck. A 59-year-old Lake Charles man was arrested. A patrol officer reported the store on 16th Street called police at 7:45 p.m. because of the man acting intoxicated. The man left the store and tried to get in a pickup truck before police arrived, but an off-duty officer with the Texas Alcoholic Commission blocked the man. Bells Returns to Provost Umphrey Stadium
A tradition returns to Lamar University football beginning in 2018 as bells are re-introduced at Provost Umphrey Stadium. The bells, which were rung after the Cardinals scored a touchdown or field goal, were originally added to the gameday experience in 1967. The bells replaced a cannon (named Big Mac for former university president F.L. McDonald) which was used to celebrate Cardinal scores prior to the 1967 campaign. WOS Opens Season With Bulldogs On KOGT
The West Orange-Stark Mustangs have gone to the state championship game four straight seasons They are picked as one of the top teams in Class 4A, Division 2 again this season. Head Coach Cornel Thompson evaluated the Mustangs’ preparation leading up to the first game. In the two scrimmages West Orange-Stark faced two Class 5A teams in Port Neches-Groves and Vidor.
