Before the season started it was clear non-district was going to be difficult for the Bridge City Cardinals with five quality opponents. After a loss in Week 1, Coach Allen DeShazo evaluated the Cardinals performance. Bridge City competed until the very end despite a somewhat one-sided score. Search Warrant Ends In Arrest
On September 5, 2018 City of Orange Narcotic Investigators and Orange County Sheriff’s Investigators executed a search warrant at 509 W. Park Ave, Orange, Texas. Upon executing the warrant, the resident, Ricky DeWayne Sparks , 38, was located inside the residence. A search was conducted and an amount of cocaine and crack cocaine were located. The cocaine was approximately three ounces. An amount of ecstasy was also located in the residence, it was less than a gram in weight. Withers Named To BC Council
The City Council in Bridge City will vote on the proposed tax rate and the budget for next fiscal year in two weeks. Tuesday the council held its second public hearing on the proposed tax rate which includes a three-cent increase. The tax rate is being raised to 54.7 cents per 100 dollars value. There were no citizens at the hearing to comment. The next City Council meeting will be September 18 when the tax rate and the budget will be approved. Accident On MLK Sends Two To Hospital
A man and woman were injured Tuesday when their car ran off the roadway of Martin Luther King Jr. Drive and hit a guardrail. Orange police report the guardrail kept the car from going into a ditch. The crash was about 12:30 p.m. in the 7600 block of MLK near First Baptist Church. Police said the Chevrolet Malibu was traveling northbound and left the roadway to the east. It crossed over the shoulder and hit the metal guardrail. The driver was listed as 65-year-old Theadore Lee Follie of Pinehurst and the passenger was 54-year-old Linda Willams. OC Drainage Hotline Now Active
The Drainage Hotline for Orange County has become active and citizens can call it to help identify drainage problems. Lisa Reeves the director of Management Information Systems with the county made the announcement at Tuesday’s Commissioners Court meeting. Reeves has been working with Clark Slacum of the Road and Bridge Department to get the phone line available for use by the public. The hotline phone number (409) 745-9730 can be called by citizens to report ditches, streets, canals, or any other area that is having drainage issues.
