The Orangefield Lady Bobcat volleyball team swept the Warren Lady Warriors. The Freshman won in two sets (25-10), (25-13). The JV won in 3 sets (20-25), (25-19) and the Varsity won in 3 sets with scores of (25-10), (26-24), (25-12). The Deweyville Pirates evened their record with a convincing 36-0 beating of the Colmesneil Bulldogs Friday. The Pirates (1-1) rolled up 306 yds of offense on just 35 plays with 220 yds coming from the ground attack. Lance Wilhelm was the leading rusher with 107 yds. on 14 carries. Gavin Buxton had a breakthrough night with 85 yds. on 6 carries. Skyler Beane had TD reception of 51 yds. The Orangefield Bobcats remain undefeated and unscored upon after two games on the young football season. The Bobcats shutout the Livingston Lions 41-0 at Lion Stadium in Livingston on Friday night. The Bobcats took advantage of turnovers and returns to take a substantial lead after the first quarter. The Lady Hornet Volleyball team from St. Mary Catholic School pulled off their first victory of the season. Council To Vote On Ice Cream Trucks
The music of ice cream trucks could be sounding through the streets of Orange if the city council approves new ordinances setting up rules for the long-prohibited traveling snack vendors. The city council will meet at 9 a.m. Tuesday and vote on whether to adopt two ordinances that will allow either vending trucks or carts. Several rules will be required, including a health inspection and liability insurance, plus restrictions on music.
