Mary was born in Chester, Texas to proud parents; Troy & Blanche Loving, but lived in Orange, Texas majority of her life. She was a sibling to 4 sisters and 1 brother. Growing up, Mary always helped her Pawpaw Priest pick his oversized garden and help take it to town to sell. Mary and her siblings always enjoyed doing that because as a reward, he would buy them sugar candy. Several Accidents Over The Weekend
A motorcyclist was seriously injured about 2 a.m. Saturday after he lost control of the cycle on a curve of the 2500 block of Simmons Drive near Interstate 10. Orange police said 32-year-old Rodney Keith Vice of Deer Park was driving a Harley-Davidson and lost control when he entered the curve and left the roadway. He was taken by Acadian Ambulance to St. Elizabeth Hospital in Beaumont. Constable David Cagle Passes Away
David Cagle, Orange County Constable in Precinct 2, passed away Sunday. He was 57. Cagle was reportedly working outside at his home in Mauriceville when he was found by a family member. He was transported to a Beaumont hospital where he died of an apparent heart attack. He has been constable since 2012. He won re-election in 2016, defeating challenger Jeremiah Gunter. He is survived by his wife Kathy and five children. He has a brother Tim, and his brother Steve is also in law enforcement. DPS Officer In Accident On 62
At approximately 6:25p.m., a Texas Department of Public Safety (DPS) patrol car was struck on State Highway 62, near FM 105, in Orange County. Initial reports indicate the Trooper was responding to a reckless driver call that was reported on State Highway 62. The northbound DPS patrol car observed the reckless driver traveling southbound and the Trooper made a u-turn to initiate a traffic stop on the vehicle. OPD Investigating Man Shot On Sunday
On September 16, 2018, at 2:50 P.M., officers were dispatched to the area of the 1100 block of 11th Street, in reference to shots fired. The 9-1-1 caller advised several shots were heard in the area. Upon arrival, officers met with several people, including one male subject who had suffered an apparent gunshot wound. Detectives and Identification Technicians arrived on scene and an investigation was begun. The injured person was treated on scene and was transported to a Beaumont hospital with what appeared to be non-life-threatening injuries. “Public” Hearing To Be Held Sept. 17
Last year when Orange County Commissioners Court raised the tax rate, angry citizens crowded into the meeting room for a public hearing. No increase is planned this year and no one has appeared to speak. The court Friday morning held its second public hearing and no citizens came. The tax rate is staying at 54.2 cents per $100 valuation. Property values overall decreased because of Tropical Storm Harvey damage, so the county will raise less money with that rate. One Arrested On ATV Theft
Newton County deputies searched Friday for two people who ran off after being stopped in connection with the theft of an all-terrain vehicle. The manhunt was in the area of the Call community, which is north of Orange along Highway 87. KJAS in Jasper reported deputies were alerted by a resident who was woken about 2 Friday morning by people attempting to take an ATV. The resident chased the thieves away.
