The Orange Police Department is investigating a theft that occurred early on Monday morning. Officer Nicholas Medina was dispatched to 1321 North 16th Street at approximately 2:00 AM Monday. There he contacted a black male who informed him that a white female took his phone from the passenger seat in his vehicle. The windows were rolled down and the complainant was out of his vehicle. Congratulations to Orangefield High School congressional debaters. The students competed in West Hardin High School’s Congress meet on Saturday, September 15. Lindsey Romero placed 3rd in one of the novice chambers. Tatum Garlington served as presiding officer in the varsity chamber and placed 5th. Alexis Sturrock placed 1st in varsity. Cards Face Silsbee After First Win
Week 3 was a good one for Bridge City. The Cardinals earned their first win of the season. They are all real excited with the victory. Coach Allen DeShazo said all three phases of the game showed improvement, offense, defense, and kicking game. The players blocked better, tackled better, and all of them executed doing what they were supposed to do. Getting special mention was sophomore kicker Oscar Carranza. Weekend Kept Orange Police Busy
The Sunday afternoon shooting on 11th Street in Orange appears to be drug related. Orange Police Detective Captain Robert Enmon said the 44-year-old victim was sitting on his sofa inside the house when he was shot at 2:50 p.m. A bullet, believed to be from a rifle, hit him in the right leg. The victim mentioned to investigators that "people in Orange will shoot you" for owing money on methamphetamine, Enmon said. The man was taken by Acadian Ambulance to St. Elizabeth Hospital in Beaumont. He was not cooperating with police on Monday. House Fire On Crepe Myrtle
The Orange Fire Department responded to a vacant house fire Monday morning in Roselawn. Four units were dispatched to 503 Crepe Myrtle Street at approximately 8:00 AM on Monday. The fire fighters extinguished the fire minimizing the damage of the structure. Battalion Chief Joe Mires with the fire department said the fire started in the back of he house. Mires indicated the structure was vacant when the fire fighters arrived. There were no injuries in putting out the fire.
