No one was injured Thursday morning in a two-vehicle collision that made a Humvee flip over onto its roof. The crash was about 7:45 a.m. on Highway 87 North at Martin Luther King Jr. Drive. Orange Police Captain Jennifer Burns said a Honda sedan was traveling southbound on Highway 87 and was approaching the intersection, which has a traffic light. Two Shot By Intruders On Pine
A man and a woman in their apartment were shot by two men early Thursday morning, but they are not cooperating with a police investigation. Orange Police Detective Corey Foreman said a 30-year-old man was shot in the arm and a 36-year-old woman was shot in the leg. The injuries are not considered life-threatening. He said police were called at 2:20 a.m. to the Sabine Park Apartments in the 500 block of Pine Avenue. Police report two men entered the apartment and began shooting. CC Meeting Times Announced
Beginning in October the Commissioners Court will be meeting at different times and on different days of the week during the month. This is a change from the current policy of meeting every week on Tuesday afternoon. Last week the Commissioners Court changed the day and time of its regular meetings from Tuesday afternoons to the second Wednesday of the month. The regular meeting will be at 10:00 AM in the Commissioners Courtroom of the Administration Building. The battle of champions last week saw West Orange-Stark drop a tough one to Newton. Coach Cornel Thompson believes the Mustangs gained a lot more from that game than a walk over against a lesser opponent. He flat out stated WO-S benefitted from playing four quarters for a full 48-minutes against a team like the Newton Eagles than in its win the week before. Thieves Steal From Boat Ramp (video)
The city of Orange had two sets of scaffolding stolen from the Boat Ramp and police have surveillance video. City Economic Development Director Jay Trahan reported the stolen items about 10 a.m. Tuesday. The sets were for two-foot-by-twenty-foot scaffolding. Robber Caught After Using Pruning Shears
On Sept. 20, at 12:46 am, officers with the Orange Police Department were dispatched to Crawdad’s, located at 12099 FM 1442, in reference to a possible Robbery. Upon officers arrival, it was determined that a white male wearing a red and white mask and exhibiting a pair of pruning shears, demanded money from the register. Bears Have Homecoming Against 2-0 Pirates
The football team at Little Cypress-Mauriceville is still a work in progress. Coach Randy Crouch is seeing improvement in his young Bears. He said the level of play by the Bears went up against a very good Jasper team. Naturally, the level is not where Crouch and the LC-M coaches want it. The coach is hopeful the Bears can carry the improvement on both sides of the ball into this week’s game.
