Hurricane Rita started this chain of weather events we've been having 13 years ago today. It reached Cat 5 strength before hitting Texas/Louisiana as a Cat 3. Fortunately many evacuated although the evacuation was no parade for most. It took as long as three weeks for many to have power restored to their home. John Robert Peart, 64, of Bridge City, Texas, passed away on September 22, 2018, in Crystal Beach, Texas. A celebration of life will be held from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., Wednesday, September 26, 2018, at Claybar Funeral Home in Bridge City. Born in Orange, Texas, on May 22, 1954, he was the son of Freeman Eugene and John Eva Peart. John proudly served his country in the United States Army from 1972 to 1976. Saturday was great until about 7:30 p.m. We got a 911 call about an assault were someone was shot in the side. Several witnesses and their stories differ. We are still investigating. BC Wins MS Tournament
The 8th grade Red team Lady Cardinals won the championship game to finish 1st place in the Bridge City Middle School Volleyball tournament on Saturday, September 22nd. Bridge City defeated Deweyville 25-10, 25-20 to move on to winner’s side of the bracket. Bridge City next conquered C.O. Wilson 25-21, 20-25, 15-11 to advance to the championship game. The Cardinals ended the tournament strong finishing with a victory against Port Neches 25-18, 25-20. The team is now 8-2 on the season and 2-0 in district play. Costume Drive for Disadvantaged Children
“There’s no trick to making a child smile when you Treat-It-Forward” - Founder, Jenny Wilson. OPD Makes Drug Arrest
A Tennessee man is facing a charge of possession of heroin. Orange police reported finding the drug after a pickup truck ran a patrol vehicle off the roadway on 37th Street Friday afternoon. A patrol officer said he was traveling south in the 3700 block of 37th Street at 3:24 p.m. Friday. A green Ford pickup traveling north veered into the southbound lane. The officer said he had to steer to the side and the passenger tires on his vehicle went onto the grassy area along the street. The officer turned around and made a traffic stop on the truck.
