Wendie Kaye Lemoine, 56, of Bridge City, passed away on September 28, 2018, at her home surrounded by loved ones.   Funeral services will be 10:00 a.m., Wednesday, October 3, 2018, at Claybar Funeral Home in Bridge City. Officiating will be Father Steve Leger. Mosquito Sprayings Increased

The influx of mosquitoes can be traced to the almost daily rain showers Orange County has received in the last month.  Patrick Beebe the director of the Mosquito Control District traces the increase in mosquitoes to the week before the Labor Day weekend. High tides and the heavy rains at that time created standing pools of water which led to the hatching of flood water mosquitoes.  The Mosquito Control District began accelerating treatments immediately after the holiday. Colonels Use Second Half Surge to Beat LU

THIBODAUX, La. – For the second week in a row Lamar University held a first half, but the nationally ranked Nicholls Colonels used a strong second half to pull away for the 50-27 victory Saturday at Guidry Stadium. The Cardinals (1-4/0-3 Southland) finished the day with 361 yards of total offense, but Nicholls ended the night with 613 – the majority of which came in the second half. One Arrested For Robbery

Orange police have arrested 20-year-old Deontae Armstrong of Orange for aggravated robbery with a deadly weapon in connection with the Monday night home robbery that ended with a Labrador retriever shot to death. The affidavit of probable cause for the arrest warrant also lists two other suspects, but no one else has been arrested.The affidavit does not name the person who shot the dog. The robbery was about 9:20 p.m. Monday at a house in the 1400 block of Cherry Avenue. Four males, ages from 16 to 20, were inside the house. Mustangs Shutout Cardinals 21-0

The future is now as Mustang freshman Elijah Gales battles for yardage against BC freshman Ethan Oceguera.   The West Orange-Stark Mustangs celebrated Homecoming Friday night and the Bridge City Cardinals weren't invited to the After Party after a 21-0 shutout. The game was decided early in the trenches as the Mustangs defensive line won the battle time and again, to the point that BC was having trouble with the hand off. Buna Wins Battle With Bobcats 30-14

Orangefield and Buna renewed their old school rivalry Friday.  The OF volleyball team traveled to Buna and got a hard fought five set win.  Then it was over to the Cougars football field where the two undefeated teams met in the district opener. Buna started off the game by electing to receive. The Cougars immediately started with a handoff for a nice 5 yard carry. Bears Get The W Against Hawks

  The first victory of the season is always sweet and to do it on the road is extra nice.  Little Cypress-Mauriceville lost an early lead, but rallied to win its first game of the season.  The Bears defeated the Hardin-Jefferson Hawks 30-18 on Friday night at Hawk Stadium The thirty points scored by Little Cypress-Mauriceville (1-4) was more points than the Bears had scored in their first four games combined.  Hardin-Jefferson (1-4) extended its losing streak to four straight.
