Tanya Gauthier’s multi-grade level (third, fourth, and fifth grades) enrichment class presented the first ever Mauriceville Elementary Living Wax Museum to their home room classes, family and staff members recently. Students chose and researched a famous historical person in which they were interested, designed and created a backdrop for them, and dressed in full costume. Additionally, they gathered props for their presentation and wrote a biographical poem about their person. A full courtroom attended the swearing-in ceremony for Steve Parkhurst as the new judge of the 260th District Court on Thursday. The ceremony was held at the Orange County Courthouse in the 128th District Courtroom. Parkhurst was given his oath by the judge he is replacing, Buddie Hahn who retired after 36 years on the bench. Water was pouring out of the break onto Strickland Drive at Martin Street as efforts were made to repair the break. Orange police are investigating gunshots fired Wednesday night at a car in a driveway on North Hart Avenue. The shots began as a woman passenger was getting out of the vehcile. She told officers a gray vehicle had followed the car to the house. The assault was reported by a 911 call at 9:25 p.m. in the 1400 block of North Hart.
