Jerry Anthony Authement, 78, of Orange, Texas passed away on Saturday, October 6, 2018 in Round Rock, Texas. He was born on September 25, 1940 to William and Yolanda Authement. Jerry was a lifelong resident of Orange, Texas until his retirement when he and Carolyn moved to the hill country of Georgetown, Texas. He was the first graduate of the first class of West Orange High School in 1958. Jerry was also a retiree of 36 years from DuPont Sabine River Works where he worked as a Maintenance Mechanic and he was a proud member of the United States Marine Corps Reserves. An Orange patrol officer made a traffic stop late Saturday night and discovered cocaine smeared on the face of the driver. The officer reported the man told him he tried to eat the drug. The officer stopped a pickup truck for a brake light not working. The stop was at midnight Saturday in the 1500 block of Park Avenue. Cards Host Bears For Homecoming
A new season starts this week for Bridge City. With the start of district the Cardinals and all of the schools in the district have the same record. Coach Allen DeShazo shared what the team did in the bye week leading up to district. It was a good time to get people that were banged up healthy. Hurricane Michael is continuing to organize just northeast of the Yucatan peninsula. It is forecast to move into the southeast Gulf today and is expected to be near or at hurricane strength at that time. Michael is forecast to make landfall on Wednesday over the Florida Panhandle.
