The Mustangs rallied from an eight-point deficit scoring a touchdown late in the game and then a field goal in the last six seconds to win the contest 24-21 over the Silsbee Tigers at Dan R. Bears Spoil BC Homecoming
LCM quarterback Adam Pope threw four touchdown passes in the first half as the Bears opened up district play with a 33-14 win over Bridge City. The Bears took advantage of three straight Cardinal fumbles in the first half to jump out to a 19-0 lead. Brett Keele scooped up the first fumble that lead to Pope's first TD pass to Darien Williams and a Kooper Abernathy kick. Still in the first quarter, Monterey Valladares recovered a fumble. Someone Is Dumping Tires
With the clearing of debris from Harvey completed, local officials are now having a problem with the clearing of man-made debris that has begun appearing in recent weeks. Code Enforcement Officer Harry Vine with the City of Pinehurst reported that someone is dumping old used tires sometimes as many as fifty tires at each of the various locations. The problem extends across city boundaries as both Pinehurst and Orange have found stacks of the old scrapped tires. Pirates Lose Tough One To Dragons
Tied at the half at 12, the Deweyville Pirates came up short in a hard fought game against Shelbyville 34-26. Deweyville's leading rusher was Lance Wilhelm with 132 yards on 24 carries and a TD. Keevin Gordon also had a good night running the ball with 83 yards on 9 carries and a TD. Gordon was 3 for 5 passing for 29 yards and TD completion to Tanner Breaux from 3 yards out. The Lady Bobcats traveled to East Chambers tonight to take on the Lady Bucs. The Freshman team won in 2 sets, the JV lost in 2 sets, and the Varsity won in 5 sets after losing the first two. LCJH Places 15 in All-Region Choir
Little Cypress Junior High recently hosted The Texas Music Educators Association’s annual All Region Choir auditions. LCJH had 29 students compete for a spot in one of the 3 choirs. Director Stephanie Teague says that she is very proud to announce that even after having to work all morning to make the contest run smoothly, more than half of those students earned one of the coveted spots. LCJH has 15 singers that will be performing in the TMEA All Region and Honor Choir Concert next month. Bobcats Blanked By Bucs
The Orangefield Bobcats went to East Chambers looking for the upset Friday but the Buccaneers had other ideas as they shutout the Bobcats 41-0. The Bucs came out and immediately jumped on the Bobcats with a huge run. With big stops by Heston Puckett and Clayson Choate the Bobcats forced the Bucs to kick a 22 yard field goal. Orangefield’s first possession turned into a turnover and the Bucs didn’t take long to make them pay. Vidor Falls Short To Santa Fe
Vidor’s high powered offense started off with a bang, scoring on the first play of the game, but found yardage hard to come by the rest of the night as the Santa Fe defense stiffened and held off the Pirates on homecoming, 28-19. Zach Dahlenburg scored on the first play from scrimmage for the Pirates on Friday night as he took the handoff around the right side of the Indians defense and raced 67 yards for a touchdown and a quick 7-0 lead. Bobcats Face Physical Bucs
The Orangefield Bobcats bounced back last week for their first district win. Coach Josh Smalley was very happy with the victory and the fact no Bobcats went down with an injury. It is nice to get a win any time, but getting back on the right foot in district is especially rewarding according to Smalley especially after the loss in the opening district game against Buna.
