The largest building permit for the city of Orange in September was for a $250,000 remodeling of the former medical building at 1301 West Park Avenue. The owner, DJC Holdings, received the permit for the building, which once housed Sholars Drug Store and the medical office of the late Dr. Howard Williams. The building in the Old Orange Historic District was designed in the Mid-Century Modern style. CASA Names New Executive Director
Codie Vasquez has been named Executive Director of CASA of the Sabine Neches Region. She succeeds Michelle Jones, who has been executive director since January 2017 Court Appointed Special Advocates (CASA) of the Sabine Neches Region gives voice to abused and neglected children in Hardin, Jasper, Newton, Orange, Sabine and Tyler Counties as part of the National CASA Association. Without an advocate, a child spends an average two years bouncing around from place to place in the foster care system. District started last week for Bridge City. The good news is the Cardinals came out of the game healthy. The bad news is they left the ball on the ground seven times losing three of them in the first half. The Orange County Master Gardeners Assn. in conjunction with the Field of Plenty will be presenting a fall program Saturday, November 10, 2018 at the Field of Plenty on Wickard St behind Orange Christian Services on planting asparagus, composting and recycling. Robert L. “Bob” Williams, 89, of Orange, Texas, went to join three of his golfing buddies in Heaven on October 16, 2018. Bob was born in Hahira, Georgia on February 16, 1929, but moved to Valdosta, Georgia with his mother and graduated from Valdosta High School in 1947. The Orange County Sheriff's Office is accepting applications for the annual Blue Santa program to give Christmas toys to families who need help for the holidays.
