"Beto" signs can be seen around Orange, but the Democrat will need to convert a lot of people to win the county. Incumbent U.S. Senator Ted Cruz took 72.59 percent of the Orange County vote when he first ran in 2012. LSCO Holds Job Fair
Lamar State College in Orange in cooperation with Workforce Solutions of Southeast Texas held another successful Job Fair on Thursday at the new Shahan Events Center. The three-hour Job Fair allowed employers to met and even interview individuals seeking job opportunities. There were 44 vendors or businesses greeting potential employees. Several hundred persons took the time to fill out applications for new jobs. Important Game For Bobcats
Last Friday was a bad night for the Orangefield Bobcats. Coach Josh Smalley evaluated the Bobcats performance against East Chambers in a 41-0 loss. He stated they did not play very well or coach very well. Smalley was not excited about the effort put forth by the team in the game. The coach did not want to take anything away from the Buccaneers who he added are a really good football team and well coached. Margie Rita Dimas, 93, passed away October 17, 2018 at Harbor Hospice Hospital. She was born in Creole, LA and lived there all her life until Hurricane Ike. She was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Altar Society, Catholic Daughters and she was an organist for the church. She also received the Diocesan Medal of St. Charles. U-turn Causes Big Accident Thursday
A woman attempting a U-turn while in traffic on Hwy. 105 Thursday morning caused a five car accident. Megan Fontenot, 27, of Orange, was traveling east on 105 with her three year old and was sitting in traffic waiting for the light at the 105/62 intersection. She then preceded to drive on the shoulder of the road, passing vehicles. African American Museum Benefit Oct. 27
Jazz saxophonist Perry Richard will be the featured performer at a fundraiser for the Orange African-American Museum. The event, A Night of Jazz, will be Saturday, October 27, from 8 p.m. to midnight at the Orange VFW on Highway 87 North. Richard is a native of Orange and is now based in Houston.
