Bears Lose A Tough One
The game is called football for a reason. The sometimes overlooked kicking game was the difference Friday night. The Splendora Wildcats rallied in the second half to overtake the Little Cypress-Mauriceville Bears 38-34 at Battlin Bear Stadium. Splendora (6-1, 2-0) ran back a kickoff for a touchdown, recovered a pooch kick that led to a touchdown, and were successful on all five point-after kicks plus a field goal. Pirates Lose Homecoming Game
Friday night was a rough night for the Deweyville Pirates. They lost the game to Hull-Daisetta 37-14 and also lost Lance Wilhelm for the rest of the season. The Pirates never gave up after being down 22-0 at the half. In the second half Cade Watson had a pick six on a tipped ball to cut the score 22-8. The Bobcats responded to go 30-8. The Pirates answered with a TD pass to Skyler Beane for 58 yards from QB Keevin Gordon to make score 30-14 and that was as close as the Pirates would get. Update on Woman Found Deceased
A 47-year-old woman whose body was found in the dark along FM 1130 between Orange and Mauriceville was hit by "something," but Orange police do not know if her death was intentional or an accident. "We are looking for anyone to give information to us," Detective Captain Robert Enmon said. The deceased has been identified as 47-year-old Lisa Ann Lee of Orange. Enmon said a motorist saw the body and called 911 at 2:18 a.m. Friday. Investigators think she had not been dead long. "It was pitch black and she was wearing all black," he said. On October 19, 2018 at 2:18 a.m. City of Orange Police Department officers responded to the area of Hwy 1130 and S. Teal in reference to a white female in the roadway. Officers arrived and discovered a white female with trauma to her body. The female was deceased. The female was identified as 47 year old Lisa Ann Lee.
