The woman whose body was found along FM 1130 early Friday morning, Oct. 19, was probably hit by a pickup truck or Jeep-style vehicle. Orange Detective Captain Robert Enmon said the preliminary autopsy report shows 47-year-old Lisa Ann Lee of Orange was likely hit by a vehicle with a high bumper. "There's no evidence she was forcibly put out of a vehicle," he said. A passing motorist saw her body along the two-lane roadway and called 911 at 2:18 a.m. Friday. RV Park Denied Again In BC
The Planning and Zoning Commission heard a request on Monday for a second time to establish a RV Park on Cow Bayou at Highway 87. Clint Wise wants to build the RV Park on the property which he said would also include a marina bar and grill, dry boat storage, and a boat ramp in the future. City Manager Jerry Jones explained why he put the request back on the Planning and Zoning Commission’s agenda after the P&Z denied the request the first time in August. Cardinals Host Lumberton
The Bridge City Cardinals had their best offensive performance of the season, but lost to Huffman last week. Coach Allen DeShazo said there were no Cardinals injured in the Huffman game. DeShazo praised the Cardinals, and their offensive effort against Huffman. Bridge City tried some new wrinkles on offense which helped the Cardinals control the ball. 3803 Early Vote On Day One
Voters were lined up at voting sites across Orange County Monday as early voting for the November 6 general election began. County Elections Administrator Tina Barrow said the voting levels were on par with the 2016 presidential election. Usually, voting decreases in years when Texans vote for governor, she said. On the first day of early voting in the 2016 presidential year, the county had 2,527 people vote in person. In 2014, a gubernatorial year, the county had 867 votes the first day. Rebuild Is Chance To Add Security
Flood damage from Tropical Storm Harvey last year is giving the Orangefield school district a chance to build new secure entrances into its campuses. Superintendent Dr. Stephen Patterson said the elementary, junior high, and high school will have "hardened" entrances to keep visitors out of offices and classrooms until they have been checked. The plans coordinate with the school marshal plan the Orangefield school board approved in the spring.
