The Nederland Bulldogs used a solid mix of rushing and passing to the keep the Vidor Pirates offense off the field much of the game to claim a 41-21 victory on Friday night at Pirate Stadium. It was a tale of two halves for sure as the Bulldogs defense kept the usually potent Pirates running game on the sideline for much of the first-half limiting Vidor to just 44 total yards on 18 offensive plays prior to halftime. St.Mary Students Enter Art Contest
St. Mary Catholic School students entered the Veterans Day Art and Essay Contest presented by the Texas Association of Student Councils District 17. The TASC District 17 includes Orange, Jefferson and seven other counties . Verick Rincon, seventh grade, won 1st Place in the Art Contest and the Essay Contest. He was awarded $100 for each award. More Delays On Hwy. 87
Motorists on State Highway 87 in Orange County have found the drive rough at both the north and south ends of the county. The Texas Department of Transportation (TxDOT) has started construction projects at both the north end of the highway from Interstate 10 to the Newton County line and at the south end in Bridge City. County Commissioners and County Road and Bridge Engineer Clark Slacum have been getting numerous telephone calls about when will the road be fixed. Volleyball Playoffs
Friday the Vidor Lady Pirates will play Dayton to break a fourth place tie in 21-5A. The game will start at 5:30pm at Dayton HS. There is a 3 way tie for first in 24-2A Volleyball between Deweyville, Evadale and West Hardin. There are two seeding games on Saturday the 27th at Spurger High School starting at 2:00. Orangefield lost a tough game at home last week to the Hardin Hornets by two points. The Bobcats need to regroup this week and get ready for the remaining three games on the schedule according to Coach Josh Smalley.
