A call from a citizen Thursday afternoon led Orange police to arrest two men suspected of breaking into a vacant commercial building at 1212 Park Avenue. The caller at 3 p.m. gave police descriptions of two men he saw leaving the building with two large, heavy box fans. A patrol officer said he arrived quickly and saw a man matching a description pulling a box fan. Another officer reporting finding another man pulling a box fan close to a nearby pawn shop. Accident Sends Orange Woman To Hospital
At approximately 3:45a.m., the Texas Department of Public Safety (DPS) received a report of a multiple vehicle crash on Interstate 10 in Orange County. The crash occurred on the Purple Heart Memorial Bridge. Initial reports indicate that a 2013 Chrysler passenger vehicle was traveling eastbound in the westbound traffic lanes of Interstate 10. Vidor defeated Dayton in straight sets Friday to claim their first playoff berth in school history. They will play Friendswood on Tuesday at LaPorte with a 6pm start. Junior quarterback Jordan Hoy rushed for 225 yards in his first career start to lead Lamar University to a 24-17 victory at Stephen F. Austin on Homecoming Saturday afternoon at Homer Bryce Stadium. The victory – LU's third consecutive – moves the Cardinals back to .500 on the season (4-4/3-3 Southland). Bowen Charged With Intoxication Manslaughter
Following an investigation, Blake Travis Bowen, 36, was taken into custody Friday and charged with Intoxication Manslaughter in the death of 72 year old Vivian Markle in June. The crash on occurred on FM 105 in Orange County on Sunday, June 3. A Department of Public Safety press release reported that a 1996 Honda was traveling northbound on FM 105, while a 2008 Ford SUV was traveling southbound on FM 105. It took until the second quarter for the Mustangs to break a tie with the Hardin-Jefferson Hawks and secure a 35-14 victory Friday night at Hawk Stadium.
