The death of 37-year-old Octavious Lamont Williams is being investigated as a homicide. Orange Detective Captain Robert Enmon said Williams' mother found his body in his apartment Saturday afternoon because no one had heard from him during the day. Enmon said he is waiting for an autopsy before commenting on the cause of death. The Regional Crime Lab in Jefferson County has a backlog because of the number of deaths during the weekend. Enmon expects the autopsy to be conducted on Thursday. Lamar University senior guard Nick Garth has been named Southland Conference Player of the Week announced league officials Thursday afternoon. It marks the first time this season a Cardinal has received the award. Garth averaged 30.0 points, 3.0 assists, 2.5 steals and 1.5 rebounds per game while leading the Cardinals (6-6) to a 2-0 record last week. Man Loses Life In Fire
On December 25 at 01:46 AM, the Orange Fire Department and the Orange Police Department were dispatched to 6820 FM 1130 (across from LCJH) in reference to a fully involved house fire with a subject possibly trapped inside. After their arrival at 01:50 AM, the Fire Department extinguished the flames and located James Wooten, a 70 year old male inside the residence.
