Update: The LCM band finished seventh in Class 4A at the State Marching Contest. Congrats to Director Jose Ochoa and the Bear Band. BC Council Turns Down Disannexation Request
The City Council met Tuesday night in Bridge City. The council took off the table a request from James Chatlosh to have his property on West Roundbunch in Bridge City disannexed. The request was made weeks ago and was tabled to allow City Attorney Paul Fukuda the opportunity to review whether it was legal under guidelines from the Texas Municipal League to disannex property in the city limits. Fukuda told the council there are no legal reasons for disannexation. The City Council then voted unanimously against disannexing Chatlosh’s property from the city. Stockman Going To Prison
Orange County's former congressman, Steve Stockman, will serve 10 years in federal prison for his April conviction of 23 counts of felony fraud. A federal judge in Houston Wednesday sentenced Stockman. After the jury's decision in April, the judge ruled Stockman a flight risk and ordered him held until sentencing. The website Chron.com reported Stockman appeared in court Wednesday wearing a prisoner's orange jump suit. The trial took nearly a month and the jury deliberated three days. The Orange Lions Club dedicated the 78th Annual Orange Lions Club Charity Carnival in memory of Lion Frank Wallace and in honor of Lion Addie Wallace at a ribbon cutting of the Carnival opening Wednesday evening. Lion Frank and Lion Addie were some of the founding members of the Lions Eye Bank of Texas in Houston.
