Another district championship was won Friday night by West Orange-Stark. The victory was not necessarily pretty in muddy conditions, but the Mustangs defeated the Hamshire-Fannett Longhorns 34-10 at Longhorn Stadium. West Orange-Stark (6-4, 4-0) completed the district undefeated to claim the district title. William Carl “Corky” Underwood Jr. was born June 22, 1928 to Willam and Gertrude Underwood near Charleston, West Virginia and went to be with the Lord on October 29, 2018. Corky served throughout his lifetime beginning when he joined the merchant marines at an early age and subsequently the U.S. Army in 1946. Answering the call of duty, Corky served in the Korean War from 1950-1953. Congratulations to the players who made this years All-KOGT Volleyball Team. Orangefield, Little Cypress-Mauriceville, Vidor, and Deweyville all made the postseason with the Lady Bobcats making it to the third round behind second year coach Ashlee Broussard after a second place finish in district behind Hardin. Vidor Coach Melissa Story guided the Lady Pirates to their first ever post season appearance.
