Several Little Cypress-Mauriceville secondary students attended the LeadWorthy Convention last week in Cypress, Texas. Leadworthy, formerly known as Teen Leadership, is a program developed by the Flippen Group to train students of all backgrounds and abilities, to teach practical skills to help students successfully transition to life after school. Julienne Jeske McLain, age 72 of Deweyville, Texas, passed away on Wednesday, November 7, 2018 in Lake Charles, Louisiana. A private memorial service will be held at a later date. Julienne was born in Bryan, Texas on April 5, 1946. She enjoyed fishing trip with her family and playing dominos and yatzee with her friends. Developer Speaks At EDC Meeting
For the first time publicly, the developer of the "old Cody's" property has announced that Chick-Fil-A is a featured store in the strip center that will include approximately 13 rentable spaces. Tuesday morning, Jeff Mallet of Houston spoke during the Orange Economic Development Committee Meeting, and said Chick-Fil-A, along with an unnamed beverage store (believed to be Starbucks) will be involved with the new development that covers 6.5 acres that runs from the frontage road to the Orange water tower. Lawbreakers Had Been On Shrimp Boat
Two Port Arthur men are facing 46 charges each after being found by Texas game wardens with illegal catches. Game Warden Clint Caywood with the Texas Department of Parks and Wildlife said each man faces 20 violations of possession of undersized flounder, 20 violations of excess number of flounder, five charges of possession of lightning welks (the state sea shell), and one charge of untagged red drum.
