The Orange County Sheriff's Office needs your help in identifying 2 suspects caught on video taking items from a vehicle (Avalanche) that was parked in front of OJ's Mobile Mart located at 9508 Hwy 12 in Mauriceville. The burglary of the motor vehicle occurred Sunday, November 11th at approximately 2:30 a.m. While inside OJ's, the white female distracted the owner of the vehicle, while the white male entered the vehicle to steal an iPhone, guns, and a speaker. The Little Cypress-Mauriceville Bears are going to the postseason. LC-M improved its seeding for the playoffs with a big win over Lumberton in the final game of the district schedule. The victory has excited Coach Randy Crouch about the Bears going into the playoffs. He said the team prepared very well and played extremely well. 2017 Little Cypress Mauriceville Bear graduate Brandon Jenkins is holding the SWJCFC trophy after Kilgore College's championship victory. Council Begins Search For City Manager
In the future, people in Orange won't have to go out of town to get a fried chicken sandwich and crispy fried waffle potatoes. A Chick-fil-A restaurant will be coming to the vacant land on 16th Street at Interstate 10 where the old Cody's was once. A timeline for construction has not been set. Houston developer Jeff Mallett told the City of Orange Economic Development Corporation board about the restaurant Tuesday morning. Commissioners Updated On Buyout/Elevated Homes
The Commissioners Court heard updates from consultants on the buyout and elevation programs offered by FEMA during a workshop Tuesday. Nancy Beward with Wendorf, Beward, and Associates was joined by consult Phil Hampsten in giving a presentation to the Court. The two consultants informed the Commissioners that 19 homes are included in buyout applications in the unincorporated areas of Orange County.
