The speed limit on FM 1442 in Bridge City will be changing. The City Council in Bridge City approved an ordinance on Tuesday that will reduce the speed limit for a section of the highway. Mayor David Rutledge explained the reason for the action by the City Council was at the request of the Texas Department of Transportation which wants to change the speed limit from 55 to 50 miles per hour on FM 1442 between Fernwood and Ridgewood. The first round of the playoffs was another cakewalk for West Orange-Stark last week. The Mustangs won easily, and Coach Cornel Thompson said there were no injuries in the game. Kavyn Cooper who has been bothered by an ankle injury should be close to a hundred percent as will Justin Sibley from his ankle ailment. Thanksgiving Holiday Closures/Garbage Pick-up
Pinehurst city offices will close at 1 p.m. Wednesday for the long Thanksgiving weekend through Thursday and Friday. The Orange County Courthouse, along with city offices in Orange, West Orange, Bridge City, and Vidor will close at 5 p.m. Wednesday and be closed on Thursday and Friday. Vidor will have regular garbage pick-up on Thursday and Friday with customers requested to have trash out by 6 a.m. those days. Orange will have no garbage pick-up on Thursday. Scope of Work Approved by Commissioners
Orange County can begin moving forward to hire a subcontractor to do oversee the repairs to the marble and stone work on the front of the Orange County Courthouse. The Commissioners Court approved the scope of work to be done on the Courthouse during its meeting Tuesday. Assistant County Attorney Denise Gremillion the legal counsel for the Commissioner Court reviewed the agreement with architect Dohn LaBiche from Beaumont.
