Debris from Harvey is being removed from yards and right of ways across Orange County. Ashbritt has been contracted with the county just like it was following previous storms to oversee the removal of the debris. The projected deadline for debris removal is January 14, 2018, but there may be additional cleanup needed of debris that has blown away from piles or has fallen off trucks taking the debris to the landfill. Orange Has Issued 52 Trailer Permits
FEMA trailers are now dotting neighborhoods around the city of Orange. In December, the city issued 52 building permits to install FEMA issued trailers or travel trailers. In addition, the city issued 28 permits in the month to repair houses damaged by Tropical Storm Harvey. The Orange City Council has extended the period the city is not charging for building permits to repair storm damage. However, the city is charging for permits used for home improvements unrelated to the flood. Orange Man Arrested In LaGrange
A man from Orange was arrested Tuesday outside of LaGrange for possession of a controlled substance after a car sideswiped another vehicle. KVUE TV in Austin reports 24-year-old Caleb Boaz is suspected of having crystal methamphetamine in the car. The station's website said Fayette County Sheriff's Office had a 911 call at 1 p.m. Tuesday about the car, which was on on Highway 71 east of LaGrange. The caller also said the driver was acting strangely. Sheriff's deputies and troopers from the Texas Department of Public Safety went to the collision. 2018 ShareLunker Program Has Expanded
After more than 31 years of collecting and spawning 13 pound or larger “lunker” largemouth bass, the Texas Parks and Wildlife Department’s (TPWD) Toyota ShareLunker Program is announcing big changes and an expanded mission in an effort to better engage the public in the promotion and enhancement of lunker bass fishing in Texas public waters. BC To See Sewer Improvements
Bridge City will have the Texas Department of Agriculture perform sewer improvements for low income residents in the coming year. The City Council approved resolutions Tuesday that will clear the way for a Texas Community Development Block Grant to be done in the city. Bridge City will take part in the Fair Housing Fair in February which is in conjunction with the Community Development Block Grant Program. The Emergency Declaration of Local Disaster will expire on January 15 in Bridge City.
