On Thursday, Jan. 11 at 6:00 A.M. Narcotics Detectives with the Orange Police and Orange County Sheriff’s Department executed a search warrant at 1313 Barkins Ave. Upon making force entry into the residence, Detectives came in contact with 63 year old Knogs Wills. During the search of the residence approximately 6.4 ounces of Heroin and 5.7 ounces of Cocaine was located inside the residence. Knogs Wills was placed under arrest and was transported to the Orange Police Department where he provided a voluntary statement. St.Mary Art Class Excels In Competition
Saint Mary Catholic School 7th and 8th grade students worked the entire month of November and December to prepare for the Houston Livestock Show Rodeo and Youth Art Completion. This is the fourth largest Youth Art Show in the nation. Last year the Rodeo received more than 200,000 entries from across Texas making the total more than 9.2 million entries recorded since 1965. OC Courthouse Master Plan Ready
It has taken months, but the county is now ready to move forward with repairs to the Orange County Courthouse. County Commissioner Barry Burton expressed his excitement this week about the Master Plan for the renovations to the courthouse being completed. John Dineen with the firm HDR has worked closely with Burton and Orange County to prepare the Master Plan before the January 5, 2018 deadline to submit it to the Texas Historical Commission. OISD Library Receives Donation
Earlier in the year, Sunshine Copeland applied for a grant from IP Paper to help restore OISD libraries after Hurricane Harvey damaged them. The IP Paper Foundation awarded OISD $8,000.00. In January of 2018, IP Paper visited OISD and awarded the district $2,000 more in grant money. The employees of IP Paper also participated in a Care Card program and raised $250 for the district.
