Animal Control Busy During Freeze
As sleet and snow accumulated late Tuesday afternoon, kids on East Allie Payne Road were scraping the frozen grains off the backs of two horses. Orange Animal Control Officer Andy Borel came to the site to help. Borel and Marc Hogden, the other animal officer, answered calls all day from people concerned about animals keeping warm during the frigid temperatures. Borel was also out into the night investigating a dog bite and, along with a police officer, searching for a cow reported loose on MLK Drive at Interstate 10. Aggravated Assault With A Vehicle
The Orange Police are investigating an aggravated assault with a vehicle that occurred Tuesday in Orange. Officer Grant McLean reported that he was dispatched to the Family Dollar store on 16th Street at 6:20 PM Tuesday. He spoke with a woman in the parking lot who informed him that someone had damaged her vehicle and threatened her. The woman told McLean a vehicle belonging to a suspect she knows followed the woman in her vehicle. The suspect used his vehicle to twice ram her vehicle at the intersection of 10th and Main. Three local runners placed in the Chevron Marathon held in Houston last weekend. Michael DeFee of Vidor (left) ran 2:42:45 in the marathon and finished fourth in his division (40-44) and 67th overall.
